The piece presented at ohrenhoch is the first collaboration between Karkowski and Chessex.
Raw material (heavily treated saxophone sounds) has been sent from Berlin to Tokyo, recomposed there and then mixed and mastered in the U.S by Karkowski in march 2009.
Zbigniew Karkowski
born in 1958 in Krakow. Lives in Tokyo.
He has studied with composers Iannis Xenakis, Pierre Boulez, Olivier Messiaen, and Georges Aperghis and has produced numerous works in the fields of both acoustic and electronic music including chamber works, pieces for large orchestra and opera. He is also a founding member of the electroacoustic music performance trio Sensorband and has worked with notable underground icons, Francisco Lopez, Daniel Menche, Merzbow, Hafler Trio and Blixa Bargeld. He has been performing and presenting his works worldwide since over thirty years.

Antoine Chessex
is a composer & performer born in 1980 in Switzerland and residing in Berlin, active since the mid 90´s in different fields of experimental musics. Chessex has been performing worldwide and developed intense solo performances for saxophone & electronics, freeing his horn from it´s well-tempered tradition. He has also been working with Chris Corsano, C. Spencer Yeh, Lasse Marhaug, Thomas Ankersmit, Axel Dörner, Kasper Toeplitz, media artist Ulrike Gabriel, architect Christian Waldvogel (Globus Cassus) and the project Monno.
