Marinos Koutsomichalis on 'Synkopierten':
'Synkopierten' is a site-specific audio piece conceived and realised for 'ohrenhoch, der Geräuschladen’ and its particular loudspeaker installation. 'Synkopierten' attempts an exploration and a re-definition of space in acoustic terms and employing syncopated noises and inharmonic spectra.
Marinos Koutsomichalis is an artist and researcher. Via sound and a wide range of other media he interrogates the specifics of perception, technology and material and by means of a hypermedia, project-based and site-responsive methodology. His work has been widely presented internationally in museums, galleries, festivals, music halls, industrial sites, churches, research institutions, underground venues, scientific journals, independent music labels, and elsewhere. His academic career has hitherto involved teaching and research in various academias and institutions internationally, contributions in scientific journals, conferences and symposia and the publication of one book.
